Songwriting Workshop
If there is any part of you that wants to do this workshop, do it.
Even if you’ve never written a song.
Even if you have a notebook full of half-finished songs that you would never want anyone to see.
Even if you think you’re already really awesome at songwriting and know everything there is to know about it.
The thing is, anyone can learn. Anyone can get better. You will be amazed and delighted at what you’re able to come up with when you’ve got guidance, encouragement, accountability, and very specific assignments.
You’ll learn:
workshop + Q&A: 5:00pm-6:30pm
Concert doors: 7:00pm
Concert: 8:00pm
Concert + Songwriting Workshop $50.00
Concert Only – General Admission $25.00
Workshop Only $35.00
Moses Mo, guitarist for Mother’s Finest, brings his solo project TWO TON MESSAGE featuring Mike Long on bass, Kerry Denton on drums and a special appearance by Zero Basement (rap/percussion) to Athens! Share the weekend with Caroline Aiken and learn the art of putting your story into song.
The focus:
The workshop begins Friday at 7:00 pm with a presentation, fun writing assignments and your questions & Caroline’s answers. Saturday will begin with a workshop on rhyming, rhythm, prose-freestyle using a ruthless editing technique. Group games to stimulate inspiration, and one-on-one sessions with Caroline to refine word selection/meaning/direction, to identify strengths and excesses. Saturday evening, students share work (if so desired), collaborate together (again, if so desired) and Caroline shares and dissects her own work and creation processes. Sunday morning we will share assignments started on Friday, and shine a light on the gems unearthed from within over the weekend.
Bring notebook/pens/pencils/recording equipment/instrument to write songs (if so desired, but no instrument or musical ability required or needed).
Shed any fear you have of expression! When you spend a couple of days with Caroline, she will support you in exploring and expanding the creation of your own words, with the end result being the ability to express yourself in the most satisfying of artful and meaningful ways.
The cost of the workshop is $340 for residential attendees; $250 for non-residential attendees.
Lodging, breakfast and lunch are included in the residential cost.
Breakfast and lunch are included in the non-residential cost.
Space is VERY limited (for quality ‘one on one’ attention), so sign up early!
Call (404) 373-0566 or visit www.parkersranch.com for more information!
